Jaddha'ah - A four year old she camel.

Jahannam - Hellfire.

Jahiliya - Ignorance belonging to the time before the advent of the Prophet (pbuh).

Jalsat-ul-Istirahah - The brief sitting between rising up from a prostration position to the standing position in prayer.

Jamrah - A small stone built pillar in a walled place. There are three Jamrahs situated at Mina. One of the ceremonies of Hajj is to throw pebbles at these Jamrahs on the four days of 'Id-al-Adha at Mina.

Jamarat Al-Aqaba - One of the three stone pillars at Mina. It is situated at the entrance of Mina from the direction of Mecca.

Janabah - The state of a person after sexual discharge, whether intentional or otherwise.

Janazah - Funeral

Jannah - Paradise. A created abode in the Hereafter for those who believe in the Unity of Allah and in all His Prophets and Messengers, and who follow the way of life of the Prophets (pbuh).

Jihad - 'To strive' or 'to exert to the utmost.' Signifies all forms of striving, including armed struggle, aimed at making the word of God prevail. One of the fundamentals of Islam.

Jinn - A creation by Allah from hellfire.

Jizyah - Head tax for security provided to them as the Dhimmis (Protected People) of an Islamic state, and their exemption from military service and payment of Zakat.

Juhfah - The Miqat of the people of Sham.

Jumu'ah - Friday

Junub - A person who is in a state of Janabah .
