K

Ka'bah- The cube-shaped stone building whose foundations were built by the angels and completed by Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) and his son, Prophet Isma'il (pbuh), in Mecca. It was rebuilt with the help of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It is the focal point towards which all Muslims face when praying.

Kafalah - The pledge given by someone to a creditor to guarantee that the debtor will be present at a certain specific place to pay his debt, or undergo punishment.

Kaffarah - Means atonement, for uttering or committing an unlawful thing in Islam.

Kafir - Signifies one who denies or rejects the truth, who disbelieves in the messengers, all angels, all holy books, etc.

Kanz - Gold or silver that is horded, or money that Zakat has not been paid out of.

Al-Kauthar - A river in paradise.

khalifa - Became the title of the successors of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), notably the first four directly following his death.

Khalil - The one who's love is mixed with ones heart and it is superior to friend or beloved.

Khamisah - A black woolen square blanket with marks on it.

Al-Kahamsah - The five compilers of Adadith
Abu Dawud, Nas'i, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and Ahmad.

Khamr - Literally means 'wine', and has been prohibited by Islam. This prohibition covers everything that acts as an agent of intoxication.

Kharaj - Tax imposed on the revenue from land taken from non-Muslims to ensure their equal rights under Islamic law.

Klilafah - Succession

Khimar - A piece of cloth woman cover their heads and neck with.

Khuff - Leather socks.

Khul' - Signifies a woman's securing the annulment of her marriage through the payment of some compensation to her husband.

Khumrah - A small mat just big enough for the face and the hands.

Khumus - One fifth of a war booty given in Allah's cause.

Khushu - Humility before Allah.

Khusuf - Lunar eclipse.

Khutbah - Religious talk.

Khutbat-un-Nikah - A speech delivered at the end of a marriage ceremony.

Kufr - Absolute lack of faith, rejection or denial of any of the essentials of Islam.
